A first edition, first printing published by Michael Joseph in 1960. Bound in the publishers green cloth, titled in red to the spine, upper board with a red vignette of a French country food etc. Spine ends a little bumped, minor edgewear. Internally, there is a previous owner's name and number to the front endpaper, a little offsetting from the jacket flap, but generally in clean and tight. Jacket unclipped (35s), but with edgewear and closed tears (one to the front panel). Title page decorated b/w drawings of cooking preparation ingredients. Illus. b/w line drawings.This volume covers French Cooking in England, The Cookery of the French Provinces, including Provence, Paris, Normandy and the Ile de France, Alsace and Lorraine, Brittany and the Loire, The Savoie, The Lyonnais, and the Bresse.
